Evolution of the Idea

The Initial Idea- Jan 15th, 2019

N0d is a VR Experience for HTC Vive with implied narratives, hidden modes of interactions, and immersive soundscapes that escalate the feeling of space. The premise is inspired by Steven Spielberg's 2001 film AI: Artificial Intellgience. The user is an android child and gets to explore the child's dreamspace. The experience will track the user's headset location and switch scenes when the headset falls a certain Delta Z.

Expanding the Concept- Feb. 19th, 2019

In thinking more deeply about cultural influences and considering the embodiment capabilities of the medium, the idea of the project expanded to question the notions that mankind has historically had of what sets us apart from other inhabitants of the world. Mankind has always used the idea that our minds are special to subjugate creatures, objects, and even other humans.

There will be different environments in the dream scene that reflects that this android child that you are embodying shares your human traits of hope, aspirations, fears, appreciation of beauty, theory of mind, imagination. This project hopes that embodying this experience will evoke in the user more empathy for everything around us.

Technical Changes- March 12th, 2019

Considering the limitations of our final showcase, I decided to switch to using a WindowsMR device. Upon further testing, I think it would be nice to have a comfy chair for the user to lay back in for the experience.
